 The Construction of an
Information Super Highway, Sungmi is leading the
way.Sungmi Telecom has
consistently placed optical transmission as one of its main
areas of focus and the company has achieved visible success
in this area, acclaimed as the leading company in Korea for
optical transmission, by providing steadily diverse optical
transmission equipment to Korea Telecom and other main
service operators in Korea. In 1994, Sungmi Telecom was the
first domestic company to develop and supply synchronous
optical transmission products, once called ' The
Dream of Telecommunications ', thus opening a new era of
optical transmission for the nation's telecommunications

Telecom has been providing 155Mbps and 622Mbps Synchronous
Transmission System, which using a single strand of fiber
optic cable makes 2016/8064 lines of telephone calls
possible, to the nation's main service operators. More
recently, the company has developed a SDH-MUX which doubles
the accumulation rate of 155Mbps Synchronous Transmission
System, thus raising the competitive value of the equipment
and 2.5Gbps Synchronous Transmission System which allows up
to 32,256 lines of simultaneous calls. In addition, Sungmi
Telecom is making preparation to meet the age
of 'Full Optical Service' by developing Broadband Cross
Connect System(B-DCS) as well as 10Gbps/100Gbps Synchronous
Transmission System.
Fiber Optic Access System is
one of strategic projects which Sungmi Telecom has
continued to promote. In the age of Multimedia Services
where voice, data and video can be freely transmitted and
received, Sungmi has provided 155Mbps Synchronous
Transmission System since 1994 to meet the diverse forms of
fiber optic subscriber needs such as Broadband ISDN, FTTO
(Fiber To The Office), FTTC(Fiber To The Curb) and HFC
(Hybrid Fiber Coax). Besides, Sungmi Telecom has developed
a small to mid capacity FLC(Fiber Loop Carrier), PON
(Passive Optical Network) FLC and MAIN(Multi-Service Access
Integrated Network) in preparation for the future fiber
optic access network which is expected to be more
diversified and advanced
Sungmi Telecom is the
only company in the nation to carry a complete line of
synchronous optical transmission products. Based on its
past achievement as well as its technical expertise, Sungmi
Telecom has begun supplying WDM(Wavelength Division
Multiplexing) with the maximum transmission capacity of
40Gbps to Korea Telecom, DACOM and other main service
providers in Korea. For the future, the company will
actively promote the development and commercialization of
Fiber optic transmission equipment which embody the latest
technology such as OTDM(Optical Time Division
Multiplexing), OXC(Optical Cross Connect). These will
contribute greatly to the modernization of nation's
information and telecommunications technology through
the construction of Super High-speed Transmission
